The surplus of natural gas is leading to crumbling prices at spot and forward markets all over the world.  The oil market remained unimpressed by this development and has again reached beyond the 80$/bbl benchmark after a slump at the beginning of last year. This asymmetric development of deteriorating gas prices and increasing oil prices puts the traditional gas industry under high pressure. The development of oil prices results in ever higher prices in oil-indexed gas supply contracts, while procurement at trading points is significantly cheaper.
