A Changing Generation Market – What Kind of Storage Do We Need?
The expansion of renewable energies, especially of wind energy, will significantly influence the power generation market and increase the need for storage. Since the year 2000, the share of renewable energies in the gross power generation has increased from 6% to 16% (2009). A 35% share is being aimed for by the year 2020. Particularly the increase in fluctuating feed-ins is changing the load structure and thus increasing the need for new storage opportunities.
